Buy x get y
The "Buy x get y" promotion encourages customers to buy more by offering free or discounted products. This strategy enhances transaction value and drives sales, making it suitable for various scenarios. Examples include: "Buy one ice cream cone, get the second at half price," or "Get 10% off accessories with an iPhone 16 purchase."
How to access
- Log in: Open your Genstore admin.
- On the left navigation bar, go to Discounts -> Create discount, and select Buy x get y.
Set up your campaign
Configure your campaign on the Create page:
Discount method
Discounts are divided into two types:
- Discount code: Require customers to enter a code at checkout.
- Automatic discount: Applied automatically at the product page, cart, and checkout.
Discount title
- This is the discount title customers will see in their cart when an automatic discount is applied.
Customer purchases
- Select products or collections: Select the products customers need to purchase.
- Purchase requirements: Set minimum purchase requirements (either by amount or quantity) for specific products or specific collections. It is recommended to include multiple items to diversify the discount offerings.
Customer gets
- Select products or collections: Select the products customers can receive for free or at a discounted price.
- Discount amount: Define the discount (percentage off, fixed amount off, or free of charge).
- Quantity: Set the product quantity eligible for discount.
- Applicable rule: If the total products in the cart exceed the discount limit, you can choose whether to apply the discount to the lower-priced or higher-priced items.
- Per-order usage limit: Limit the number of times the discount can be used in a single order by each customer.
Event time
Set the start and end dates for the promotion. The start date is required, while the end date is optional. If no end date is set, the promotion will remain active indefinitely. Note: The time zone defaults to your store’s time zone.
Advanced settings
In addition, if you want to configure more detailed discount rules—such as purchase limits, combination, eligible customers, or applicable markets—you can do so in Advanced settings.
Usage limits
- Total usage: Set the maximum number of times this discount can be used.
- Limit to one use per customer: Set the discount to be used only once per customer.
Combinations
Choose whether to combine this discount with Product discounts, Order discounts, or Shipping discount.
Target customers
- Select from All customers, Specified customer tag, or up to 100 Specified customers.
Markets
You can select all countries/regions or specify individual countries/regions.
Preview and publish
Review your rule settings in the Overview section on the top right of the page. If you want to preview the settings before publish, you can click Preview in the top-right corner of the page.
Once finalized, click Save to finalize the setting.
Once the rule is saved, it will appear in the discount list, where you can edit, activate, deactivate, or delete it.
